By now you’ve probably gathered that I am Ben and I teach Math. I’ve been a classroom teacher since the Fall of 2018, when I started my career at Synapse School in Menlo Park, CA teaching 7th and 8th grade Math. Before that, I always seemed to find myself in the role of educator, dating as far back as 4th grade, when I started teaching peewee karate lessons. I also founded a Teacher’s Assistant program at my high school, and created a project-based new hire onboarding program at Red Hat Consulting. I am proud to share that both of those programs still exist today!
In the classroom, my mission is to create an environment where all students can self-actualize as mathematicians, and carry their growth from Math class to other facets of their lives.
I also do other stuff, too. I live in Pacifica, California, where I spend as much time as I can on the beach with my dogs. I absolutely love music. My main instrument is the bass, but I dabble with guitar, harmonica and synthesizer, and have just started dipping my toe into the world of building my own instruments. I am also an active member of my local music scene, catching live acts as often as I can. My favorite shape is a tesseract and my least favorite number is 38.
If you want to get in touch, the best way to do that is through my LinkedIn. I hope you enjoy the site!
